Audi's new R8 V10 Rear Wheel Drive

Audi Sports GmbH is extending its R8 model series to include new Coupé and Spyder variants with rear-wheel drive that are 50 kilograms lighter than the R8 Coupé V10 and will be available to order in the UK from September 15, priced from £110,000 OTR.



R8 Spyder V10 RWS will be exclusively rear-driven both of them are limited to 999 units worldwide and are going to be built by hand at Bollinger Hofe R8 factory.

CEO of Audi Sports GmbH, Stephan Winkelmann, said: “The R8 V10 RWS is made for purists. The R8 10 RWS is an exclusive offer, it’s a limited edition and special model car for all the customers with an appreciation for the love for driving.

"With its mid-mounted V10 engine and rear-wheel drive, it successfully brings the driving concept of our R8 LMS racing car to the streets.”

Matt Black Design
The matt black air apertures at the front and rear and the matt black grille of the Single frame shows the purebred character of the new R8 variant. The upper side blade (of the Coupé) is finished in gloss black and the lower blade in the body colour.

The Coupe same as R* LMS GT 4, also comes with an additional red film running over the bonnet, roof and rear end. The driver and passenger seats are sports seats covered in leather and Alcantara with bucket seats are available as an option. To indicate the limited number of unit’s dashboard is displayed with an emblem “1 of 999,”.


5.2 FSI Engine
540PS is produced by the mid-mounted V10 engine of the Audi R8 V10 RWS

It delivers a stunning top speed of 198mph (Spyder: 197mph), with significant peak torque of 540 Nm (398.3 lb-ft) at 6,500 rpm and 5.2 FSI engine powers the Coupé from 0 to 62mph in 3.7 seconds (Spyder: 3.8 seconds).

In the R8 V10 RWS, combined fuel economy amounts to 22.7mpg equivalent to 283 grams carbon dioxide per kilometre whereas its 22.4mpg and 286 grams carbon dioxide per kilometre within the high open.

Specially Tuned Chassis Setup Allows Controlled Drifts
The Coupe with an all-wheel drive which requires additional components such as a multi-plate clutch, prop shaft and centre differential weighs 1,590 kilograms, 50 kilograms (110.2 lb) lesser than the R8 Coupé.


The Spyder is 40 kilograms lighter than the R8 Spyder V10, weighing 1,680 kilograms.

The shaft load distribution of the Spyder is about 40.4:59.6 whereas for coupe it's 40.6:59.4 each of them with chassis and handling calibration considerably custom-made for rear-wheel drive offer for joyful entertaining driving.
